After the City of St. Peter, MN  determined that it preferred not to manage its skilled nursing facility the Yanik Companies introduced the Benedictine Health System to the Hospital and City of St. Peter as a possible partner for the new replacement to its existing skilled nursing facility.

Yanik Companies had earlier served as the Program Manager for the City and the St. Peter Community Hospital assisting the City in selecting the new site and preparing a master campus plan that would include a new Critical Access Hospital, complete Senior Campus to include long term care, assisted living and independent living apartments and a Medical Office Building on the new 28 acre site.

The new site was selected with the intention that the new St. Peter Community Hospital would serve as the dominant element.  The new Critical Access Hospital opened in August 2004. The new Living Community of St. Peter is a direct result of those discussions.  Planning, programming and design began in June of 2004 and the facility opened January 2007.

This $13 Million 65,000 square foot project is designed for 80 residents.  The four wings each hold 20 residents in settings that allow for maximum flexibility of services or segregation by client type.

Each patient bed area is designed for maximum privacy The double occupancy suites are designed as two separate bedrooms that share a bath.

The dietary and laundry services constructed with this facility support both the long term care facility and the attached St. Peter Community Hospital.  They are sized to permit expansion of services for future Seniors  programmatic needs.

With the opening of this facility in January of 2007 the existing skilled nursing services was relocated to the new St. Peter Community Hospital Campus. The facility is owned by the City of St. Peter and leased to and operated by the Benedictine Health System
